Quit Wasting Your Gym Time!
The best way to tone your body, and get that slim and lean figure that you want isn’t from doing 30 minutes a day on the treadmill. And if you are a female, and your workout routine currently looks like that, you might be completely wasting your time. This article, in addition to the video above, will explain why your current routine isn’t ideal for achieving your dream body, and what you should do instead.
Avoid Doing This
As mentioned, many females who start working out, do it to achieve a leaner, more toned figure. Great! How do they go about doing this? Spending hours on the treadmill. That can get you to lose some weight, but isn’t really ideal. Instead, you should do this exercise in conjunction to weight training. I’m going to give you a few reasons why. (The last one is my favorite reason.)
Building Definition
“But I don’t want to get bulky.” Let’s be honest, most women don’t want to look like a huge bulky bodybuilder. The great news is that lifting weights won’t do this. Lifting weights does help to build muscle, but in a way that adds that definition and “tone” that most females want. If you don’t believe me that lifting weights won’t get you bulky.. look at most men working out at the gym. Are they bulky? Far from it.
Osteoporosis Prevention
One of the most striking health concerns that happens with women as they age is that their bone health deteriorates. This is known as osteoporosis and occurs when your bones lose density and become porous. The great thing about weight training, is that it actually helps to improve your overall bone strength! Although you might not be considered a senior today, you will be some day. Doing resistance training is a great way to ensure you will keep your bones strong through your life span.
Improved Confidence
Everyone deals with self confidence issues. In our day and age, women are often looked at to be “perfect” in every aspect of life. Feeling this way can be exhausting. For many of the females that I have worked with, lifting weights and building strength gives them confidence not only in their self image, but in their life in general. The feeling of empowerment many woman feel when getting stronger is one of the best reasons for females to lift.
