Turning on a Treadmill 101
Buying a new treadmill is incredibly exciting. With it out of the package, and all sparkly, you put on your running shoes to hop right on. Until you realize… “I don’t know how to turn this thing on.” This short article will detail exactly what you need to do to turn on a treadmill, and 3 common troubleshooting fixes that can help you if the treadmill itself won’t turn on.
Common Treadmill Troubleshooting Tips
Make Sure The Treadmill is Plugged In
Although this is incredibly obvious, it needs to be said. Make sure that your treadmill is plugged in firmly into the wall. I have had a couple of instances myself, where I have only plugged the cord in halfway. Once I started pounding on the treadmill, this actually jarred it loose from the wall. Make sure it is firmly pressed in, ideally far away from your legs when walking.
Make Sure The Treadmill Safety Key is Secure
The treadmill has a safety key feature, which actually allows the treadmill to shut off automatically if you are near the edge of falling off of the treadmill. Although this is a good safety feature, it can cause issues if it isn’t firmly pressed in. In fact, your treadmill likely won’t start unless it is fully clipped or magnetized to the treadmill. If you want to know how to use the safety key, feel free to check out this article I made below.
How To Use the Treadmill Safety Key
Treadmills and Gym Safety A treadmill is by far one of the most commonly used pieces of equipment in the gym. Whether you enjoy going for a brisk walk, or getting in a long run, most people who step foot in the gym will likely touch a treadmill at some point in their life. Although…
Make Sure to Flip the Power Switch
Most treadmills have a power switch, somewhere near the front of the treadmill, on the bottom of the base. This will differ from model to model, but with most treadmills, I have found they are on the front. Without this switched on, no amount of frustration and screaming will get it to start.
Just Press GO!
Now that everything is all setup, all you have to do is press the go button! Some treadmills may have this as a “start, begin, etc.” Usually the go button is detailed in green, making it easy to find. Once you are going, all you have to do to stop the treadmill, is press the “stop” button usually outlined in red. If you are in the market for a treadmill that I recommend, the Sunny Health and Fitness Folding Treadmill gives a great option to try at home.
