Your heart does a tremendous amount of work, every day, to keep you alive. If you have a high resting heart rate, this means that your heart has to do EVEN MORE work than it normally does to keep you alive. Over time, this puts a large amount of stress on the heart and arteries, which can lead to issue with the integrity of these tissues.
