Breathing Techniques to Reduce Anxiety & Heal Your Body
If you’re feeling anxious and need to calm down rapidly, I’m here to share with you three ancient deep breathing techniques that can help lower your anxiety, lead you to a state of relaxation, and potentially even promote physical healing in your body.
The first technique involves focusing on longer exhales. When you inhale, your heart rate goes up, which activates your sympathetic nervous system. In contrast, when you exhale, your heart rate lowers, activating your parasympathetic nervous system, leading to relaxation and potentially healing. Many people tend to breathe more in and less out, which can jack up the sympathetic nervous system, so focusing on longer exhales can help lower your heart rate and move you into a parasympathetic mode where your body can relax.
The second technique is diaphragmatic breathing. By breathing mainly through your diaphragm and pushing your belly button out and letting it come back in, you can naturally turn on your vagus nerve, which is the natural healing nerve of the body. This activates the parasympathetic nervous system, promoting relaxation and healing.
The last technique involves humming or singing. Humming or singing activates the vagus nerve, which runs up to your neck and through your ears, and all the way down through the rest of your body. This stimulation of the vagus nerve can help promote relaxation and a sense of well-being.
To practice these techniques, lie down on your back and perform deep breathing, focusing on long exhales, breathing through your diaphragm, and incorporating humming or singing. This combination of deep breathing and humming can help you feel incredibly relaxed and promote a sense of calm and well-being.
Give these techniques a try and let me know how they work for you. These practices have deep roots in ancient traditions and have the potential to bring about a profound sense of calm and healing.
Try these techniques and experience the myriad benefits of deep breathing in promoting relaxation, reducing anxiety, and potentially even promoting physical healing. These techniques have been used for centuries and have the potential to bring about a profound sense of calm and healing. Whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, or simply looking to enhance your overall well-being, deep breathing can be a powerful tool for promoting relaxation and healing.
