QC Strongman is a gym in the Quad Cities that not only gives meatheads and fitness junkies a place to take out their anger in the weights, but also gives back to the community in a variety of ways. With various fundraising events to help other agencies in the Quad Cities, QC Strongman truly empowers the vision of combining a community through fitness, health, and family. I wanted to take some time to write out a few of the things that QC Strongman offers for people looking for a gym in the Quad Cities, in addition the assistance they provide to others in the community as well.
QC Strongman Gym
Non-Profit Organization
Usually, when you talk about gyms and fitness centers, you first mention all of the equipment they have, amazing locker rooms, and even access to other amenities like a sauna, massage area, or a smoothie bar. QC Strongman does have an excellent facility and equipment, but is lacking in the other glamorous areas that might flock people towards a gym. This isn’t particularly what they are known for, though. QC Strongman is actually a 501C3 non-profit organization, using most of their revenue to help the community in any way that they can. To name a few of the local agencies they have partnered with: QC United, Arrowhead Ranch, Moline Youth Service Bureau, QC Paws are all organizations they have worked with, in addition to many more. In addition to this, holding fundraisers for agencies like these, hosting clinics for area youth, and even helping veterans transitioning from Civilian life back to the real world. Also, QC Strongman will be partnering with the Scott County Special Olympics Powerlifting team at the time of writing this article, to have a FREE facility to train and use for their Special Olympics endeavors. When I was browsing their website, researching what they have accomplished, it is truly eye opening. You don’t see many social work-related business’ doing this much for the local Quad Cities Community, let alone a gym. One of the last things I wanted to touch on was that they ALSO have a scholarship that one Quad Cities boy and girl attending high school can receive in their pursuit of going to college. If you are interested in donating to them, which is completely tax deductible, check out their website here.
Gym and Equipment
I would be remised if I did not mention the wonderful facility that QC Strongman has as well. Whether you are someone who is just looking to get a sweat on, OR push yourself to the limits, QC Strongman has you covered. With a variety of different barbells, specialty bars, free weights, machines, platforms, strongman equipment, you surely will not get bored in their facility. When I visited this gym a couple years ago, they also had an area that had punching bags, and MMA space to get in your kicks, punches, and combat practice. One of the other neat aspects of this gym is that they are open 24/7 for individuals to attend. With prices starting at only $45 a month for a single membership, you honestly can not beat the value, especially for how much equipment is available to use.
Quad City Strength & Fitness Expo
One of the other cool things that QC Strongman does for the community is help to host a local fitness and health expo in the Quad Cities. This is typically done at the RiverCenter in downtown Davenport. In addition to Chiropractic, Nutrition, and local Gym vendors, there is usually a variety of fitness competitions as well. This can include Strongman demonstrations, powerlifting meets, Crossfit style competitions, and even bodybuilding shows. I personally have been to this event before, and thought it was very well put together. It’s always fun getting together fitness enthusiasts that live in the Quad Cities. I actually met Brian Shaw at this event when I went. (If you don’t know who he is, look him up online.) Typically, this event is held during the summer, but can vary from year to year. For more information on where it is, feel free to visit their website here.
