BEWARE of Hidden Calories in These 5 “Healthy” Foods

Want to ACTUALLY Lose Weight?

When you are trying to eat healthy and lose weight, it can be so overwhelming deciding what foods are okay to eat, and what foods you should limit in moderation. Today, I wanted to briefly share with you in the video above, and article below, 5 “healthy” foods that have a lot of extra calories in them. These foods may set your dieting and weight loss plan up for failure, so beware!

Beware of These Foods!

Peanut butter

While it’s a great source of protein and healthy fats, it’s also high in calories. Just two tablespoons of peanut butter can contain up to 200 calories. So be mindful of your portion sizes and opt for natural peanut butter without added sugars or oils. In addition to this, powdered peanut butter can also offer you a great peanut butter taste with much less of the calories!

Salad dressing

Salads are a great way to get your daily dose of veggies, but the dressing can add up to hundreds of calories. Instead of creamy dressings, try using vinegar or lemon juice for a healthier option. I personally like using fat free italian dressing or low calorie ranch dressing options in place of that.

Fruit juice

While it may seem like a healthy choice, fruit juice is often loaded with added sugars and calories. Instead, opt for whole fruits which contain fiber and are more filling. This extra fiber in normal fruits will also keep your blood sugar stable as well.

Avocado

Avocados are a great source of healthy fats, but they’re also high in calories. Stick to half an avocado or use it as a substitute for other high-calorie ingredients like mayo or cheese. Just remember at the end of the day, you need to be aware of the overall amount of calories you are consuming, to maintain your weight. Avocados make it not the easiest to do this!

Canned fruit

While it may seem like a convenient and healthy option, canned fruit is often packed in syrup which adds extra calories and sugar. Opt for fresh or frozen fruit instead. If you are reading a label of canned fruit, make sure it says “no sugar added” on it.
